Awards and Recognitions

• October, 2025: Selected as one of the most influential researchers in the world in 2024 according to “Ranking of the World Scientist: World Top 2%”, carried out by Stanford University and Elsevier.

• October, 2025: Our proposed Fake ID Detection Method has achieved the 2nd and 4th position in the localization and detection tasks, respectively, in The Challenge of Detecting Synthetic Manipulations in ID Documents (DeepID Challenge) organized within IEEE/CVF International Conference on Computer Vision, ICCV 2025. Also, on the private dataset, our proposed method has achieved the highest scores, showing a better out-of-domain generalization capabilities in comparison to other approaches. • July, 2025: Our proposal, X-TFCLIP, has won the Aerial-Ground Person Re-identification Challenge (AG-VPReID 2025) organized within IEEE International Joint Conference on Biometrics, IJCB 2025. All the details of the AG-VPReID 2025 challenge are publicly available in the corresponding paper.

• June, 2025: Our paper “Are Vision-Language Models Ready for Dietary Assessment? Exploring the Next Frontier in AI-Powered Food Image Recognition” received the “Best Paper Award” at the 2nd MetaFood Workshop organized within IEEE/CVF Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Conference, CVPR 2025.

• May, 2025: I received the “Best Young Researchers Award (2024)” from the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid (UAM). This award recognises and makes visible the work of young researchers at the UAM for their contribution to scientific development, as well as their national and international visibility as a leading research center.

• January, 2025: I received the “Juan Lopez de Peñalver Award (2024)” from the Spanish Royal Academy of Engineering (RAING). This award recognises researchers/engineers under 40 years who have carried out outstanding development and innovation work in the field of engineering.

• October, 2023: Our paper GANDiffFace received the “Best Paper Award” at the 11th IEEE International Workshop on Analysis and Modeling of Faces and Gestures in IEEE/CVF International Conference on Computer Vision, ICCV 2023.

• September, 2023: I received the “Outstanding Reviewer Award” in the IEEE International Joint Conference on Biometrics (IJCB 2023).

• June, 2023: I received the “Best Ph.D. Thesis Award in 2019-2022” from the Spanish Association for Pattern Recognition and Image Analysis (AERFAI).

• September, 2021: I received the “Outstanding Reviewer Award” in the 16th International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition (ICDAR 2021).
